  My stay at the Novotel was very satisfying and the staff were very polite and helpful. One suggestion I have is to improve the signs that direct one to the elevators in the parking garage. The location was excellent and the speed checkout very efficient. I was a bit surprised that I would be charged and extra $10 per hour if I were to be late checking out. I have never experienced that before in my frequent travels and I do not think it reflects proper hospitality. If a guest requests one extra hour it seems unnecessary to charge for this time even with the pressures of preparing rooms for the next guest. Should someone require more time or neglect to advise the desk, this policy might be more appropriate.

  Great location! The hotel is within walking distance to pretty much everything downtown. So no need to worry about renting a car or even taking public transport. It's an affordable hotel so don't expect luxury, just exactly what you need for a good price. Very clean rooms and so far good service.

  The room is very small and every aspect of it was really cheap from the cafe style desk chair to work from to the limit that has been put on the thermostat so that I could not even cool off the room. The shower head has to be held by hand in order to stand under it . How is someone supposed to wash their hair when you have to hold the shower wand with one hand? Carpet was newly installed on my floor and I had a full headache for the entire two days I was there. It was so ill equipped that there was not even two cups left for coffee. We had to share a cup!! I will be posting my reviews on the internet so assure as many people as possible are aware of what a terrible hotel this is. Just charge a bit more and offer some quality rather than cut corners on every aspect possible. I've stayed at better rooms at cheap motels.

  So far, the Novotel Ottawa has been excellent. There was apparently an error with my booking (in that they had me arriving a day late and leaving a day late), but that was handled immediately. I ended up having to call down to the front desk for bandages for a blister, and they brought me up some gauze and bandages. The breakfast was excellent (if as expensive as at other hotels). The service has been quite good. So far, I'm definitely pleased.

  The washroom was not clean upon arrival and housekeeping didn't replenish soaps/shampoos after the second day until I called housekeeping (voicemail) and had to go down to the front desk to ask. The first morning, housekeeping knocked at 7:55am and didn't cease until I answered the door. Having arrived from the west coast, 7:55am is 4:55am so I was extremely disappointed to have been woken up to have to answer the door. For the hotel rate paid, I would expect a more professional experience.
