  Fantastic Lebanese. Anything off the grill is fabulous. The fried chicken is also devine. No soggy K*C style here :-)

  I had the whole chicken platter. Every part of that meal deal - chicken, potatoes, rice, salad, pickles, turnip, hummus, bread and dressings -- was delicious. It was enough to feed four people generously. The natural wood charcoal taste came through on the chicken beautifully, and the spices used on the chicken and potatoes were very flavourful. The meal was a big hit for my guests. I ordered the vegetarian platter for my vegetarian guest, and she said it was one of the best she had ever had. I added a side order of falafel and grape leaves to really delight everyone. I could not be more pleased with this order. I interacted with three employees when I picked up the order, and each was exceptionally welcoming and respectful. The cook was out to please and he went beyond expectations. I cannot say enough good things about this establishment. I highly recommend it.

  Ask anyone about their favourite shawarma place in Ottawa and few would send you here. Take it from me, the herd doesn't always travel in the right direction. Just for today, forget about the Palace and take a walk with me.
  
  This Matar location combines a restaurant, meat shop and grocery store under one roof. As with most of my favourite places to frequent, it's quite necessary to look past the aesthetics and experience the food and service.
  
  I don't recommend it for sit-down dining. The eating area is small and spartan, and often there is cross traffic between the grocery store and restaurant side -- but it's great in every way that really matters to me.
  
  The food is top notch, the family that owns it are warm and friendly (particularly the gentleman who cooks), and the price is absolutely right.
  
  *** Even if you hate shawarma, go there for the potato wedges. The BEST I've had anywhere in North America.
