  This, in my opinion, is the best pool hall in Ottawa, largely because it doesn't feel like the traditional, grungy pool hall. It's a very nice sports bar that you can feel comfortable bringing a date, or your mom and dad. It's setup to handle large groups and gets very crowded for special sporting events. They also have a good menu with reasonable food, and a full bar with many beers on tap. The burgers are particularly good.

  Been here a dozen or so times. Great place for watching a game. Good selection of beers. Food is... not great. The kitchen is pretty slow and the menu is pretty limited. Their decent chicken Caesar salad is your best bet.
  
  Pool tables are converted to seating for significant sports events. Lots of room.
  
  If you're looking to drink more than eat, and wanna catch a game or play a round of pool on a date, MacLaren's fits the bill.

  Solid place all around. Great for watching the game as there is plenty of TV's and big tables. They cover some of their pool tables for more seating during big games.
  
  As for the pool, it's a tad pricey but there is plenty of space to play comfortably. Definitely a good place to go if pool is your fancy.
  
  Service has been good, but not great.

  Nice place to play pool, eat and watch the game. Decent beer selection and other alcoholic drinks. Wine selection not so much. Personal favourite is the mountain dew, tastes just like the pop, most drop shots are quite good. Fries are amazing and chicken nachos are nice to share.

  We chose MacLaren's as we were staying at the Business Inn and were pleased to find they had a fairly extensive gluten free menu.
  
  First off, this establishment is much more "bar" than restaurant and the decor is dated at best.
  
  My daughter and I both ordered off the gluten free menu and when I inquired about the "seasonal vegetables", I was informed that the menu was outdated and that I would be provided with peas and carrots. These were FROZEN and tossed on the grill to warm them up. I live in Toronto where the climate is the same as it is in Ottawa and while peas may be seasonal in May, I can assure you that carrots are NOT.
  
  When it came time to order dessert, my daughter and I chose the chocolate lava cake and pointed out that the dessert was INCLUDED in the cost of the meal (written on the GF menu). We were informed again that the menu was outdated and that dessert being included was no longer the case.
  
  I don't know where the "customer service" went, but where I work if I customer sees something plainly written on a menu or otherwise, we HONOUR that request whether it is outdated or NOT. If it's still printed there, it's your DUTY to honour the request. That's just good customer service.
  
  I have no idea where all these "good" reviews came from, but I can assure you that will not be returning and will absolutely NOT recommend this place to anyone.
